Default Brake switch 1936 Ford truck..

I'm trying to get the ole truck road legal before I drive it to town for the parade on labor day. I have an original brake switch that screws on the transmission for the brake lights. Is there suppose to be a spring that attaches from the switch to the brake pedal? I think there is, but I haven't been able to find on yet. Also, where's a good place to find some brake lights to install on it? Thanks again... Bret
