Default 1948 Ford pops out of 2nd gear

Drove my 1948 Ford coupe today about 45 miles and it popped out of second gear coming down a steep grade (mountain). Went back into gear easily and stayed there. Later in the day it did it again but also went back into gear easily and stayed there. Anything external that should be checked or adjusted?
