I appreciate the info! So the rear hub cover doesn't have five nubs it has a raised circle that goes around the lug bolts. I posted a photo of the rear hub on the first page. With that said should I still replace it? Wouldn't I just need to replace the hub cover instead of the complete hub itself? I apologies for the lack of knowledge. Here's photos of the 16" wheel extremes - 3.5" versus 5". These are going on my '32 roadster.

I'm not 100% sure, but likely Ford pickup as they came from rural Ks. Back in the 70's there were still some early/mid 60's ford 1/2 ton pickups with these 16" wheels installed from the factory around here. They are identical to the early ford car wheels when it comes to the inner nubb hubcap attachments and such.

Solo.........This is a picture of another '41 Merc. As Chris said above, all of the 16"-ers pretty much look the same. The only difference with the later pick-up wheels that Chris talks about is that those five narrow, deeply-stamped rectangles just outboard of each stud hole probably will not appear to be stamped quite as deeply in the later pick-up wheel center. Otherwise, they appear the same. The last year for the pick-up wheels with the "innie" nubs for the early hub caps was '66. DD

Thanks guys for all the help. I made up my mind and I'm
Just going to run the 16" x 4.5's. I found some locally with tires for a fair price so hopefully I can get them on this weekend. I'll snap a few photos for you. Thanks again I appreciate all the patients and wisdom. |

So I ended up with 16"x4's with 550's up front and 750's in the rear. Funny thing is it seems like the previous owner upgrades the brakes but used the 35 hubs. I have no idea why but I'll be fixing that soon.
Here's what she looks like with the new wheels.
