First off, I can't show a picture, I can't get a pic to load. This deals with the last/rear cross piece of wood that fits on the sub rails of my 30, Town Sedan. There are two short (about 3") steel channel/clamps pieces at both sides with four bolts each. My problem is that the channels/clamps won't go over the new wood. I've got to grind about 1/8 of an inch off the wood for the channels to fit.
1) Is it best to take it off the top or bottom of the wooden cross piece? 2) What do these channels/clamps do? I can't see how they serve any purpose. I'm sure that's not the case, but what do they do? Terry |

It sounds like Briggs body. Do you have the original wood to compare? If that cross sill is too thick are the side sills also too thick? If so it can cause minor problems elsewhere. Those brackets support the rear bumper arms. The rear most bolts clamp the brackets tightly and the forward holes align with the bumper arms. Yes, you want them there.

Did you resize your image down to 800 pixals wide ? If not, Fordbarn will not take them and won't tell you why. MIKE ![]() |

Thanks for the response. Correct! It is a Briggs. So from what you're saying, I would want to maintain the the surface on the bottom and remove any wood from the top of the sill, Am I correct about this?
