Is it a pop out or later turn one ?

If original it could have a broken spring inside or rubbing against the housing.

Broken spring? I've seen some originals that were so gummed up from years of crud and not being used, but if your's has been working fine and sudeenly doesn't my guess is a bad spring or the peg doesn't fully retract to allow the cylinder to pop out. Either way, it sounds like it need to come apart and be repaired or cleaned and lubed.

My Pop Out works just fine as long as it is straight. But when you bend the coil to install it it shorts out. :-(

if it is a 28-29 or early 30 pop out and it does not pop out my bet is the pot metal is swelling up or the spring is broke but must of time it is the pot metal if you take it apart and sand the outside of the inners down lube it and put it back together it should work

WD-40 works wonders on sticky locks. Try that first.

It's in the car should I just spray in the key area?

I would spray some electrical contact cleaner in it rather than WD40 which will attract dust and gum things up.

I've heard that WD-40 is bad for potmetal. I know it's sure bad for plastic containers. I sprayed some WD-40 on some hardware in a plastic container and a week later the plastic was out of shape.

Remove the switch-contact Dick Crabtree in S. Dakota, send it to him, and get it redone.

Thanks for all the tips. But the screws that hold the switch to the dash panel came loose on one side hung up on panel.. Thanks again!! making it sit at an angle.
