Default Masking Plastic

When you guys paint a panel on a car, where do you get that cheap thin plastic to wrap the rest of the car and then pull it off and toss it? Seems like I saw that some place, like a hardware store, but I can not remember where.

Be very careful using body shop masking plastic.

Excellent product to prevent over spray reaching the rest of the car. Always drape right to the wet floor to prevent over spray from drifting onto wheels & chassis.

Caution; read the label on the box as SOME plastic masking, if gotten wet, will acid stain the paint. These materials cannot be left outside in wet weather to protect the car.

MMM Grio's sells a disposable plastic car covers $14.00. I use them to cover my California car cover in the garage. Keeps the cigar smoke from getting on the fabric too. LOL

I just want to protect the balance of a car while I put a stipe on the hood.

Not to your question but....Old bed sheets work great. Easy to handle. Easy to tape the edges. Keep in place with magnets. No scratching. Don't attract dust. Reusable (wash and wear). Easy to store. Will absorb your tears if you screw-up.

Got some plastic wrap for when spraying the house to mask off windows and other places you did not want painted. The unit came with tape on one edge called 3M Hand-Masker. Install on the edge you want masked off then pull the sheet down to cover the protected area. Worked great.

I use painters plastic. Very light, very thin and easy to work with. Comes on a roll in a box that you can pull it out of the box to the desired length and then cut it off. Very handy for many different things.
Makes a great car cover (inside) and can be made to stay in place with a few refrigerator magnets.
