Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

What would you be attaching it too?

I am working on rigging up a solenoid on one door that will unlock the inside handle as a precaution for if I ever get locked out by the inside handles. That...

Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

Thanks for the pictures. I now see this kit will fit a car but not a truck. I plan on cutting the cover plate and weld it back together reverse to what it is now (unless someone wants to swap for a...

Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

Not off to a good start. Check the pictures. The parts will fit the passengers side but not the drivers side (left). The kit says it’s for a 35-40 open or closed car and I am trying to fit it to a...

Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

That’s not exactly correct all parts with the exception of the cover plate are universal. The cover plate is L or R but can be cut and welded either way.
I have done all the research and tracked...

Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

You guys seem to be fixated on making a hole. The hole is the easiest thing to do. I was more interested in fitting the lock holder and making the profile in the door rib for the lock so it matched...

Re: Puttin a key in the drivers door

Thanks for the replies. Making the hole is not the problem it’s making the door profile around the lock. I started making a set of dies to form the shape in the door but now I have another problem. I...

Re: 37 coupe RTS T-170 swap!

10 inch from a 77 ford maveric works with the t-170 and the original hogsheads clutch fork. The pads on the clutch fork might need adjusting inwards. Heat and bend the forks or braze extensions onto...

Puttin a key in the drivers door

So I ordered a kit from ecklers to fit a lock to the drivers door on my 39 truck.

Re: 1936 Coupe Door Striker Question

Stamped steel plate with trapped nuts. Plate has ridges in the middle like the striker plate.
I will take a picture of one in my parts box when I can get to it

Re: 37 coupe RTS T-170 swap!

Which adapter did you get? A 1/4” plate or a bellhousing?
I mostly did one with the 1/4” plate but ended up going auto “so my wife can drive it” but it’s really for my knee and hip can’t take it...

Re: wireing for replacement heater motor to 1940 switch

On my 12/6 conversion the dashboard and heater are still 6v while the engine and lights are 12v.
To me it’s the simplest way. Run a 12v battery with a 6v regulator to feed the dashboard. You might...

39 door lock. Drill out hardened screw

So I had to drill out the hardened screw that held the door lock in. I used a TN coated carbide ball nose endmill in my battery drill and took my time and mostly kept it centered. Then I tapped the...

Re: Door latch rebuild. Finding parts

What’s bugging me is I have seen a very similar piece of spring steel but I can’t remember what it was on. My mind says disc brake pads so I have been searching various disc brakes trying to find the...

Re: Door latch rebuild. Finding parts

I am building a 1939 1 ton express truck.
I see them latches for $300 and up but that’s a chunk of change to get a part as most of the ones forsale are passenger sides so the only part that would be...

Door latch rebuild. Finding parts

On my 39 truck I started rebuilding the door latches. I did the passengers side first and it was easy with just a bit of welding to repair the worn surfaces. Now the drivers side. It needs more...
