Re: Motor Meter or Quail
If you're worried about people messing with your car, get an old continuous buzz cow trainer fencer. The battery type. Put a drag wire under the car for a ground and connect the hot side to the...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine
Put them on a stand one by one. Pull the covers and head off, check the bore, bearings and for cracks. Checked good repairable engines are worth a few hundred each. Scrap the scrap. I see good...

Re: Left Lights On By Mistake
An alternator will not deep charge a drained battery. Put it on a slow charger overnight or even 24 hours. Nothing like a slow, deep charge. 2 amp is perfect, preferably NOT a smart charger.

Re: Slow starter
If you buy a farm rated battery and you treat it well, it should last for at least 8 years. Treating it properly: 1. keep it charged while sitting. This may be accomplished with a battery maintainer...

Re: Need information on rebuilding A Engine
DON'T jump to conclusions. A knock does NOT necessarily mean a rebuild. No reason to pull the engine. Pull off the timing gear cover, then valve cover, then the oil pan. Check as you go. Most the...

Re: Spare Tore Covers from Tebo Barn
The OP was NOT asking if Ryan was a scam! He was asking if the AD was a scam. That is a very legit question to ask. Scammers will take a legit, reputable company and spoof their website. They will...

Re: Warm-Up Time
This is definitely a case of overthinking the issue. Model As are not fragile, starting it and driving 2 miles will not hurt it. Watch the oil, if it starts to look bad change it. The A will likely...

Re: "29 electrical/generator failure
Look at the coil, one side of the primary terminals should have + or - by it. See which side goes to the distributor. If it is - to distributor then its negative ground, if its + going to...

Re: Abandoned roadster
I hate it when people look in my sheds and think they've found gold. Yeah, maybe but its MY gold. A dry shed with plenty of air movement will keep a car nicely for many decades. Some of us have plans...

Re: She’s got a great body, but.
I drilled ends, v'd crack, and JB welded a Model T head. The heads are easy enough to come by and replace so I did it mainly to give it a try. It worked and I believe still is working 12 years later....

Re: Air Filter or not
I use an original AirMaze. If you clean it once a year and then oil it, it collects a LOT of dirt. I have had no issues with it affecting my fuel/air mix. I've ran it for many years.

Re: Second to Third Shift Point
Number one, 12-15 mph into 3rd works great for me. If you are refering to a "stumble" as a misfire, address the issue now as it will only get worse. Pull the carb and make sure its all clean, then...

Re: Generator / Charging issue
At 6 amps of charging that is too high of voltage. Are you using an analog voltmeter? Have you checked it against a known good voltmeter? Is the electrolyte level up where it belongs in the battery?...

Re: Power Issue?
Number 1, never slip the clutch. Number 2, do you have the spark lever set properly? Advance spark until you just start to hear some ping on a hard pull, then back it off a click. A steep hill is...

Re: knock during hard acceleration
Ping is your teacher. Advance the spark lever until you hear the ping, then retard a click or two until it goes away. Note the position of the lever, then dont go beyond it. Its no more complicated...
