Re: Buy flow tested carburetor jets?
So, after a year and further problems, I finally rode a relatively long tour today. 213 kilometers... (Otherwise only short stretches of less than 80km.) The car runs great, absolutely without any...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
Soooo, another new day, screwed on again.
After cleaning the carburettor completely in the ultrasonic bath yesterday, I reinstalled it today. With my neighbors, also vintage car drivers, we...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
Soooo, new day, new try.
Today I completely disassembled the carburetor. It is currently in the ultrasonic bath for cleaning. Will take a while.
In parallel, I took my Tillotson carburetor out...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
So... I tried to adjust the carburetor. I turned the idling screw almost out so that the throttle valve was almost closed. Engine ran very, very slowly. Nevertheless, adjusting the idle mixture...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
That's a mistake I've been thinking about too. My armored cable is in similar bad condition. But my question is whether the problem shouldn't also be misfiring while driving / accelerating?! That's...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
I'll go after that again today. I removed the throttle body to clean it. It also showed that it is easy to move. However, it is open a small gap for the idle air. Does the flap to adjust the idle...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
So definitely the seal/connection intake/exhaust manifold is tight. This was sprayed with brake cleaner. Between the manifold and the exhaust he could get a minimal amount of secondary air. Since I...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
One more note from me. Before replacing the carburetor jets, the engine was running far too rich. The problem was sooty spark plugs and valves/cylinder heads. In the meantime I did a 200km test drive...

Re: Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
I already wrote above. The capacitor isn't old yet, but it was measured anyway and it's OK. It's not because of these. Spark plugs are also new. Only the breaker contact would have to be renewed, but...

Backfire, I'm running out of ideas...
Hi guys, my A is giving me some problems.
It's consuming too much and backfiring on coasting/decelerating.
What has been checked so far... A pressure drop test was done which showed no...

Re: Buy flow tested carburetor jets?
I have now received an answer from Rennert. They still have nozzle sets in stock. However, they are reluctant to ship abroad because too many shipments have been lost. But it's not a problem either,...

I once wrote an email. Calling is not my thing, my English is too bad for that. I only write about Translator here. I'm curious what...

Buy flow tested carburetor jets?
A long time ago I found a shop on the Internet that offered rebuild kits with flow-tested jets for Zenith carburetors. Unfortunately, I can't remember where that was... At first I thought it was...

Eeeiei,... sooo many answers. I try to work through the essentials from the top down.
It is precisely because of THESE statements that I am asking here. One is too fixated on modern materials....

Let's ask the other way around...
A new part has to be installed. I have just ordered an old used distributor that will be delivered soon.
What speaks against disassembling and derusting it...

Re: Engine runs way too rich!
Swapping carburetors across is a good option, that's right. But if the spark plugs, pistons and valves are already completely covered with soot, this is not a sign of dragging brakes. The error here...
