Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern
There's an easy way, we use the SBC "pills" to adjust the timing!
I'll put some shots below!
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. With our method you can get more than 5* if needed?

Re: Block cleaning and magnaflux
It needs to be pressure tested more than it needs "magging", pressure test shows everything?
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. "Magging" is definitely OK though! Pressure test first, "mag" second!...

Re: 1.6 intake and exhaus valve
Hi Stian, doing this for a living I would recommend changing all 16 seats regardless of your valve choice size?
Most times the effort to go from the 1.500" the 1.600" valves doesn't get you that...

Re: Eab
Here's a shot to help show the difference between the "rotators" and the "non-rotator" assemblies!
Like Ron says, you need much shorter springs with the "rotators" in play!
"Happy Thanksgiving"...

Re: head stud removal
The worst Flathead studs we've found can be drilled out using the magnetic drill press in about 10 or 15 minutes! Depends on the remaining length in the block?
We simply "whiz-wheel" the top off,...

Re: Valve lubrication question on 8BA
Hi "J", that's what we prefer to do to keep the costs down, use 16 old guides IF you have any?
You can fit 16 used guides in one USPS small flat-rate box, runs about 7.00/8.00
shipped to our P.O....

Re: Valve lubrication question on 8BA
Now's the time to put bronze liners/Stainless valves in and never have a "hung" valve anymore?
You'll need no "additives" either anywhere?
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. Bronze-line all 16...

Lots more issues with the "new" Navarro's than what's apparent, including cooling hole misalignment?
Do a search, I checked these out very closely for a recent blown build here?

Re: 8BA valve question
Some use "valve-rotators" depending on the years, some don't!
If you change the valves you need the corresponding retainers to go with that specific valve!
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

Re: Finally some Cam Degree Numbers - Now what?
The only number you really need to properly degree the cam is the "ICL", this number tells the whole story! You don't check this with any lash included, it's normally done with the lifter riding on...

Re: Crank pulley bolt...Lost again!!
Hi Joe, can you measure that pulley opening across? It appears (from the photo) the factory washer will not fit that particular setup?
The OEM Flathead washer measures .312" (thick) x 1.560"...

Re: Crank pulley bolt...Lost again!!
Hi Joe, appears to be not enough torque on the bolt, this will cause your problem. If it doesn't get enough torque it will eventually work its way out!
What happens is having the correct "tension"...

This "problem" is in no way the customer's issue, a "better" machine shop would ALWAYS try a cam in the block after installing new cam brgs BEFORE sending it down the road!

Re: AutoLite 216's in Offy heads
Just to keep things clear here, you don't necessarily need the .125" spacers, you can make them any length to get the job done!
The .125" spacers happen to fit the Offy heads we generally work on...

These "additives" tend to allow "minor"...
