35/36 Ford aftermarket tube shock mounts 1935 1936

A friend and I each picked up sets of the clamp on tube shock mounts for the 35/36 rear radius rods.

Any info on them and if they are worth using?

Thanks.

Thanks! Any idea who made them?

I have not had a chance to see how they fit. I'm gonna soak them in vinegar for a few days and try to get them apart.

If you happen to have any photos of how they mount that would be great.

I had a pair of those shock brackets on my 35 Phaeton which I removed during restoration.

Below are two photos, one showing the assembly bolted to the LH radius rod. In the second photo, the bolt at the top of the tube shock came through the frame and bracket on the right...someone must have cut away the inner fender to accept the mtg hardware.

Hopes this helps.

Re: 35/36 aftermarket tube shock mounts

Well, after a year I finally stumbled upon what they are. My buddy Jay, who bought a set, had the picture in a thread he started a few years back. Ironic.

It's a Houdaille tube shock conversion kit. :)

Here are some photos after I cleaned it all up.

They won't work on my car because of the angle I'm running the rods at.

They will go to a fellow Ford Barn Member from CA to re-energize his motivation to complete his build.

Hopefully this thread will help others out.

I have this setup and a new pair of Gabriel shocks for it. Not installed yet. The Car is in a shop across town so I cant get to the box to give you the part numbers but if I remember correctly they corresponded with 46-7 rear tube type. When I get back to the shop I'll note the part # and post it to you.

Good information! Did not know these adapters were made by Houdaille. Have a set like these on a '35 3w coupe that was probably built back in the '60's. Looking forward to seeing info from "johndee" on brand and part number of shocks that would be used with these aftermarket rear shock mount brackets/adapters.

Gabriel Classic gas shock #82007 is the one.
I think I got them at Amazon but many sellers carry them. I looked for the cheapest one, of course!
