40 Trunk Lock:
 

I have a new trunk lock and having problems getting it installed.I am not sure how the pin release works.I keep thinking something is wrong with the lock.The key only comes out a one place.Should the cylinder make two revolutions and key come out?My handle never had a lock in it and not sure how it is suppose to work!Can someone explain? On my Drake reproduction, straight up is locked and 1/2 turn to the right is unlocked. The key can only be removed in the locked position.

It's a pain to keep locking/unlocking the trunk. I ground a key head down enough that the lock cover will close over the key. Leave it in the unlocked position until you need it locked, then remove the key.

By pin release, do you mean the little pin that holds cylinder into the hole on a real Ford lock?? If so, from memory that becomes movable somewhere about 45 degrees from key just inserted and vertical. Get it to that area and adjust til you can easily depress the pin to insert, for removal adjust til you can depress it via the little access hole.

Thanks Bruce,I figured it out and got the cylinder installed.I thought it could be unlocked with key out until needed.Like 40cpe said ,I think is a real pain but I will give it a try.

I find it to be a pain myself. I do like the key grinding idea and may give that a shot.

The grind down key sounds like a great idea, will give it a try on my coupe.
