Nagging chirp
 

I've got a chirp in my engine compartment. It seems to be coming from the front motor mount. It's not the generator, water pump or belt. It does not do it at low rpms or high rpm. Seems to get worse while the clutch is depressed. I can make it stop chirping by pushing a little on the front carb side of the engine. I've narrowed it to the front motor mount. I've tightened the front motor mount bolts. Please help. I love the sound of the engine but I am tired of the "Crickets".

Does it seem to coincide with the engine revolutions? Try something easy first, like a bar of soap on the belt when it is idling and see if it goes away... maybe the belt or a pulley is a bit glazed.

Soap on the belt doesn't help. Not necessarily with the revolutins, it's more of a vibration chirp. Like I said, I can apply a little force to the side of the engine with a little lifting pressure and it will stop.

It might be the front motor mount. Try a little oil about the center bolt.

It probably IS the front motor mount. Spray it good with WD40 so it is saturated, not only on top, but on the bottom as well. Then apply some oil.

Surely I have fought this for days and its as simple as oil on the front motor mount. I'll try it in the morning.

Well, I got so caught up in diagnosing a "Model A Problem" i completely left common sense on the side of the road. Oil on the motor mount solved the problem. Sorry for posting a Silly question but I guess "i couldn't see the forest for the trees"

Had the same problem, oiled the front motor mount, no more chirp.

Lifting engine as you said could it be a chirping rear mount rubber pads?
