1940 Ford coupe trunk hinge springs Is it best to change the whole hinge arms and springs or just replace the coil spring? I have read a few of the horror stories how sometimes replacing the whole unit the trunk sticks up or they bind. I know the complete unit is about $150.00. How hard is it to just replace the spring? I see it has a guard. Do you drill the spot welds or just bend it out of the way then bend it back? I see C&G and CW Moss is out of stock. Who is carrying the best arm assy or the springs? Which is the best wat to go?

If you are able to replace the rivets at the center pivot AFTER you have welded the elongated holes up and redrilled them to size, then go that way. If you are not able, buy new. |
