slinger

Can you tell me how essential or important the oil slinger on the crankshaft I am understanding it keeps the oil away from the crank seal. Would I be correct in saying that? The slinger was missed on a re-build.
Thank you in advance for your input.
Oldgas.

Re: slinger

Which engine are you working on? Yes an oil slinger keeps oil away from the seal so it can drain back into the pan.

I have the same engine and cannot remember about the oil slinger. Tim McMaster rebuilt my engine and he is at:

There is also Mummert ([url]http://www.ford-y-block.com) in SoCal. and Ted Eaton (www.eatonbalancing.com). These are the big three when it comes to Y blocks. All of them are very helpful if you call them.
