This red '55, with a newer porthole top, has those oem clip style wheel covers. Of course 5 per wheel would be better but the 4 clips per wheel it currently has haven't been a problem in 9 years... even at freeway speeds.
I just got three spare used wire style wheel covers and they came with a bag full of spring clips. I might install a few clips next time the tires are replaced. |

Australian 1956 Ford Customline with Accessory Wire Wheel Covers. Apart from a Mainline Utility, this was the only 56 Ford V8 offered in Australia. We never received any other body styles or the upmarket Fairlane models. They all were powered by the 272 Y Block with Three Speed Manual Transmission. This photo was taken over 40 years ago, and I haven't seen this car since. The owner didn't like the inconvenience of pulling out these Wheel Covers to check the Tyre Pressure. His solution was to drill a hole to allow the Valve Stems to protrude - problem solved! However, after his first drive, he noticed that no valve Stem was protruding. Result - Set of NOS Accessory Wire Wheel Covers destroyed. |
