1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle 3 Attachment(s)
This goes in the door in the rear window channel. Mine are all worn out, and the driver's side is broken. Does any one know if other year/make/model inserts would fit my 1959 Mercury Monterey? If not, I'll have to fabricate/refurbish/reuse the ones I have.

Re: 1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle Try https://www.restorationspecialties.com/. They’ve got a pretty good selection of that sort of window pieces. Good quality stuff in my experience.

Re: 1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle You can buy a similar strip, and glue it on from Snyders Antique Auto Parts, New Springfield, Ohio. Model-A uses about the same thing. No metal edge on it though. The lengths are cut to fit, but I doubt you ever would.
I just clean the surface, apply the glue, and slip them in place. The roll the window up for a few days with some posterboard from the dime store between the window and the strip. The one that goes on the vent-a-payne is a whole other kettle of fish. |
Re: 1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle BTW, JC Whitney used to sell the ones you have now. I have no idea if they, or Warshowski are still in business.

Re: 1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle You can always use the soft fuzzy side of velco to glue/staple into place and you will be set.

Re: 1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle Thanks to all. I think I'll start with the Velcro suggestion. Seems that since the fuzzy part is what is worn out, so I should be able to just re-apply and no more rattle. We'll see how it goes.

Re: 1959 MEL door glass verticle anti rattle I have used the Velcro thing for years. Tedious but worth the effort! I started doing it before all the re-poped stuff was out there. Now I just go with it when doing a resto.
