Ford country sedan accelerator pedal HI, Guy's has anyone delt with the Accelerator Pedal that was used early1957 full size, in this case wagon, with the 312 dual 4 barrels and overdrive? the reproduction Dennis Carpenter or the one with the round button won't fit. The linkage has a oblong hole and a pin with to different side ends sizes and thicknesses rides in the linkage hole. The parts book shows it but no picture how the pin sits in the pedal? I do not have the original pedal. Any idea's?

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal I can’t help with the pedal, but a full size E code with the stick/overdrive is really cool. Original, or someone put it together?

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal nope this is a original Country Sedan 4 door wagon with a single 4 barrel three on the tree with overdrive.

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal I will be following this thread! I have the same car with just a single 4 bbl. carb. I know there were two different pins in 57 I just can't remember the sizes.

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal There is an early and late pedal.I extensively discussed this on my 57 Threads on the Hamb.

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal Hi Sent you a PM

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal My 1957 Fairlane has the "bus driver pedal", and the pin is not used on my car. Accelerator pedal works just fine. No one has ever even asked about it.

Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal Interesting as to a couple responses not sure they read my message, thanks anyway for the responses! I know that this style pedal was used in 57 fords with either a dual 4 barrel or a single 4 barrel. the parts book 'kinda' gives a part number and shows the pin that holds the pedal to linkage. But in the reference book shows one pedal. but the linkage is Not unique? Found a used one in new Mexico but again no reference to the kick down? Ford was good for using various parts! Hard to understand though is that there is not more information out there?

I'm not quite sure of your question, but will describe how my early '57 Ford operates. The pin is spring loaded and passes through the hole in the accelerator linkage and is secured at each end by fitting into holes under the pedal. When correctly installed, you can no longer lift the pedal away from the linkage rod. My '57 is an E-code Club Sedan with overdrive assembled in January of '57. It has the early ashtray and the one piece radio/heater bezel of the early cars. My pedal and pin are DC repops and operate as designed for both accelerator and kickdown functions. If you don't find your answer here, you might look into the Fords of '57 FB group. Lots of '57 expertise there. Hope this helps, Russ |
Re: Ford country sedan accelerator pedal Early ashtray...I never heard that before. I wonder which one I have.
