Front E Brake Cable Rubber Tube on it.

There is a rubber tube on the sheath of the Front Emergency Brake Cable about 4" long?

Where is this supposed to 'Ride' against? Would it be between the exterior firewall at the, near the entrance site to the interior Emergency Brake Handle end?

My cable frayed at the interior wheel... froze up from lack of grease? Check yours....

I had to replace the broken/frozen cables on my 52 sedan. I placed the rubber in the floor hole and use it as a seal. I think the cables in the 56 are similar. I didn't see any other rub spot. JP Lutz

JP: did the rubber come up from the undercarriage and the 'Nipple' press up against the exterior of the fire wall? What holds it from sliding down towards the ground? Or does the Nipple press up into the opening?
Thanks for responding btw
