What is going on with my 32 coupe top

The metal tack trim is under the top material. There are no signs of nails or stables. The top appears to be original. The trim should be on the outside with nails and rubber strip but it is not. The trim is metal because a magnet will stick to it. Can anyone tell me what is going on.

How was it done and why was it done this way. I cannot figure out how they secured the top to the car. It looks like the top material was folded under the tack strip then sat down on the car. But no signs of securing top to car. thanks

Screwed or nailed from the underside?

Like Als48 said. I believe early Dodge and possibly other Chrysler cars were done this way.

It could be something like this metal flexible tack strip. Material gets hooked to the teeth and then it's flattened and tightens up the material. I've used this type on headliners. https://house2home-us.com/products/h...2r0o7txc&gQT=1
Try a putty knife to pry it up.

What tony said makes sense. I will be using the top as is but if I should ever try to replace, how would I get the top material tight using that flexible strip.

Here are a couple of Youtube videos. Not what you're doing, but the method would be similar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef-e5KnUqAI
