1940 master cylinder repair kit My 1940 master cylinder was apart. Got a rebuild kit that has a rubber washer in it. None of the diagrams show it, where does it go? Thanks Ron

Re: 1940 master cylinder repair kit There is no rubber washer. The "piston stop" is a steel washer.

Re: 1940 master cylinder repair kit the rubber washer goes in first under the residual pressure valve, then the spring etc.

Re: 1940 master cylinder repair kit ! yes, 1 no, on the rubber washer that came in the kit. Help! Thanks Ron

Re: 1940 master cylinder repair kit How about a picture of it or the size.
|
Re: 1940 master cylinder repair kit same size as the bore, about 1/8 thick, hole in the middle
|
Re: 1940 master cylinder repair kit As Kurt said above, the washer goes in the cylinder first, and sits at the very bottom of the bore...clear at the end. Then the check valve and spring, cup and piston. The washer's job is sealing the check valve to the end of the cylinder.
