Gas valve filter

Time to put this back in the tank. The miner bees plugged the outlet hole, so I wish to take the valve apart to assure it is thoroughly clean. How is this pencil filter attached? Is it threaded down into the male fitting, or just push-fit? I prefer to know what I am doing before using a potentially wrong tool, then waiting several days and too much shipping charge for a replacement.

The Filter is just pushed into the valve, check to make sure it is soldered, if not it should just pull out.

The pencil fitting spigot has a slight taper to wedge in the valve. The screen is only crimped into the fitting, so don't pull on the screen or it may come out.

I took mine out after years of use, thinking it would need replaced. It was just fine. I still hosed it off with some spray carb cleaner.

If it does not swedge in, I just took a little tin foil and wrapped the bottom like putting on plumbers tape. It will take up the gap if any.
