This stuff has been around for decades for good reason. |
Re: installing heater hose fitting Also, I believe it was "Kube" who told me when I asked, angle it towards the fender, NOT verticle, so the fan doesn't hit the hose.

Re: installing heater hose fitting Last one I installed was probably 15 years ago, I might have put some RTV on there if I recall. It probably doesn't really need anything. It's still been leak free.

Re: installing heater hose fitting Choose a hole punch that creates a nice round snug fitting to the pipe. You can experiment on a flat piece of rubber like an old radiator hose, inner tube or something to find the right punch if you have one of those sets that goes from maybe 1/8 to 3/4 inch. I haven't had one of those ever leak without a sealant but the Indian Head Shellac is a good idea.

Re: installing heater hose fitting When I put mine in I made sure the hole was a tight fit and didn't use anything else. Has never leaked

Re: installing heater hose fitting Here is photo of the orientation on a V8 85 '40 Ford. The fan clears the hose by about 3/8", and the fitting angle makes for gradual bed in the heater hose.

Re: installing heater hose fitting Use a step drill to drill the hose and permatex2 to seal the parts and threads. Works very well.

Re: installing heater hose fitting Thanks all
Good ideas, some times the “simplest” appearing jobs can have the most complicated process. Frederic |
