I made a pair of "saw horses". They are taller than a typical saw horse and have a pair of curved boards on each end to hold the fender securely.
I (first) paint the insides of the fenders by placing them in a common paint rack. Once they dry and I have wet sanded and buffed the insides, I tape up (insides) and place them on the horses.
Repeat :)

I can get you a photo tomorrow if you like.

I should have thought of these years ago as they have made my life much easier.

I'll get the photos ASAP. Probably tomorrow as they are outside and I don't think I'll get there until after dark.

"Once they dry and I have wet sanded and buffed the insides, I tape up (insides) and place them on the horses."

Wow! That is truly a pro a work.

I've heard that Kube had even color-sanded and buffed the back side of the dash, the passenger side of firewall, and I THINK even the inside of the roof on this coupe back when. Even the inside of doors get the full resto and paint treatment on a "Kube" restoration. The guy is an ANIMAL! DD

Okay, here's the photo's I'd promised. Don't laugh - they really work well. Of course they are padded prior to utilizing. Note the one end is a mirror opposite of the other saw horse to compensate for the left vs. right fender.

They are about 4' tall which makes them about perfect for my old back.

Okay, now you can laugh :)

What you heard is true. I'd only done that "inside the body" thing twice.
I'm doing my best to get the "crazy" under some control.

Hi Kube... you described them well that's how i pictured them yesterday after reading your post,I was thinking 3/4 plywood but better yet looks like you shaped it out of a piece of 2 by 8.. I can use the inner fenders for a pattern,,,thanks much

I'm sure plywood would work just as well. I had the 2" x 6" stock so used it.

Well, I'm not laughing.....I'm disappointed! From "THE Kubarth", I was expecting no less than properly trimmed, shaped, sanded, stained, and then hand polished wooden 'art'.....something akin to this saddle stand pictured below. Neat horses though, that certainly should serve function quite well. DD
