I (first) paint the insides of the fenders by placing them in a common paint rack. Once they dry and I have wet sanded and buffed the insides, I tape up (insides) and place them on the horses. Repeat :) I can get you a photo tomorrow if you like. I should have thought of these years ago as they have made my life much easier. |
Re: jigs for painting fat fenders Hi Kube ,,that would be great when u get a chance to post the photos,,sounds like you had the fastened very secure to be able to also sand and buff,,Iv had my hands full wrestling these around just doing the bodywork and sanding the primer,,I don't paint every day so it is important for me to have these set secure at a comfortable height ,,,thanks much jim

Okay, here's the photo's I'd promised. Don't laugh - they really work well. Of course they are padded prior to utilizing. Note the one end is a mirror opposite of the other saw horse to compensate for the left vs. right fender.
They are about 4' tall which makes them about perfect for my old back. Okay, now you can laugh :) |

Hi Kube... you described them well that's how i pictured them yesterday after reading your post,I was thinking 3/4 plywood but better yet looks like you shaped it out of a piece of 2 by 8.. I can use the inner fenders for a pattern,,,thanks much |
