33 rear bearings

1 Attachment(s)
Removed rear bearings from hub and somebody before me must have removed them in a somewhat aggressive manner. The cage has been damaged possible when driving out the seals, they were then replaced with the damaged side to the bottom of the hub. They are ford bearings should I try & grind off the damage ?

By the way I used Lawrie's trick in removing seal & bearing. It only worked for one side. The other side was loctited in.

Lawrie's trick- The same as getting the baffles out of a oil pan. Tip it up side down & drop it on a solid timber board. It took a few tries with one hub and the seal & bearing dropped out. Unfortunately somebody had loctited the other side in. Thus a replacement seal is required.

Has the bearing gone through the case hardening on the inside of the hub?

No Dave all looks ok. A bit of a mark on the bearing surface on the housing

Re: 33 rear bearings

Itīs more about if they managed to twist the roller cage then if there is a few marks on it.
If the cage is deformed or twisted the rollers will move sideways causing axialforce and increased wear on the bearing surfaces.
Think pitch of a nut/bolt
