600/16 Tires I need new tires for stock 1936 Ford coupe. I was looking at Goodyear deluxe all-weather, I think it is a good lookin tire (white wall) . I would like to know what brand is the best and where to get. Thanks Bill

Re: 600/16 Tires I put 600/16 Diamondback Auburn radials on my 40 wagon and it drives like a new car! Since I no longer need to be point judged, I took the bias ply tires off. These look very much like stock tires and am happy with them.

Re: 600/16 Tires Phillipswanson, they were cheaper then the 5 Ford Script double wide whitewall bias ply tires I got from Coker (which are no longer being made). I will never use bias ply tires on any of my cars I drive since the wagon was the only one I built to be judged.

Re: 600/16 Tires Too bad Coker does not make a double white wall 6.000x16 radial. From looking at their youtube, starting about 3:20, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IsSwmR8bck they just need to apply another layer of whitewall on the inside.

Re: 600/16 Tires I use Excelsior Stahl Sport Radials on my 32 Cab . . . they are a great tire (though expensive). They have about the best "look" for a radial that I can get . . . but obviously are not bias plys. You pay for them . . . but it is worth it in my mind.
I will not run bias-ply tires on a car that I will operate on the freeways/interstate at traffic-flow speeds. Safety is a big issue for me - as our old cars are already quite unsafe as compared to everything around us - so I try to improve my handling, braking and wet-weather 'roadability' as much as possible. Once you switch over to a quality radial, you'll never go back to bias ply . . . unless you have a dang good "judging" reason to do so. |

I've been a huge advocate of the Excelsior Stahl Sport Radials for a couple of years now. DD |

Disclaimer* They may not be for everyone's budget. |
Re: 600/16 Tires I run the Auburn's and yes they were, I'd say, very pricey. One thing I noticed is that the spare tire disc is a lot of work to get to fit. I'd buy them again.

Good observation Jeff an important item to point out. |
