speedometer cable lubrrication '37 ford Hello:
Looks like I can use some help here. My speedo cable has been yelling at me so I disconnected lt from tranny and gauge. Pulling from the gauge end, the inner cable will rotate but will not pull out. All loading has been removed from outer cable. Have I done anything wrong yet? Thanks, Rich:confused: |
Re: speedometer cable lubrrication '37 ford Hold the cable up at the gauge end and spray some WD40, or similar lubricant, in the speedo cable housing. This worked for me on my '34. Good luck.

Re: speedometer cable lubrrication '37 ford The best stuff I have ever used is Sil Glyde that NAPA sells. It has many other uses but it is one handy tube to have around and has a very wide temperature range. Slather the entire cable with it.

Re: speedometer cable lubrrication '37 ford I realize that WD40 is not a lubricant and I see that I didn't phrase my response very well. I should have said; WD40 or a lubricant. My bad! I just wanted to point out that WD40 worked for me when I had a similar isssue with my speedo cable.
