49merc,
NAPA IC 64 or the Bosch 00012. The Bosch has a funky aluminum case if
you are into funky.

I don't like funky haha. I got a 12v coil and stater solenoid from Vintage Auto garage but I think i burnt it up. Put a meter on it and Ohm 200 +- was 3.4 & 20k center coil was 8.4. Trying to get my motor to start on the frame 2 yrs ago I had it dynoed and broke in it ran good. I also got a napa number off of a tractor site ic145b ? Anyone heard of that one?

I went to Napa and the ic64 is now the ic14.
Anyone know the OHM reading it's supposed to be?

You would have to have the spec's on that specific coil, but in general as shown. IF you are not using a ballast resistor you want something in the 4 ohm range in the coil itself.

All I can find with a quick search is: NAPA IC-14 Echlin 3.25 ohms primary resistance

Thanks. That's what mine is measuring. So I guess I didn't over heat it.

JSeery: Thanks for posting that testing diagram.

I have a 12 volt coil from both Bubba and Charlie NY (a Bosch Blue). IMHO they are both top quality for professional services and parts. My two both test at about 3.4 ohms.
