Looking for a solution

I have a 1946 Ford 1 ton , with the lower front mount distributor and the fan belt hits the bail wire that holds the cap in place. Is this a common thing ?(I wouldn't think so) I'll try just about anything.
Thanks Steve T.

A photo would help as pulleys and thing may have been changed over the years. If nothing else you could switch to a crab cap and ditch the double cap and bail wire.

38bill's solution would be the easiest since you would only have to get the cap and the two clips to hold it plus a new set of ignition leads. There might be some extreme wear in the fan parts that allow it to droop. Parts are available for the 21A type fan hub assembly.

I have a minor collection of '46-'47 tonners and I welcome you to this small club. I run the crab cap on everything here just like these guys said. People here are very helpful. And we like pictures!

Do you have the correct fan belt? Would one a little longer or shorter change the belt position enough that it would clear?
