Oil Pump Gasket

Anyone know where to buy just the gasket between the oil pump and the pickup tube for a 1939 Ford v8?

Easy to make that, paper and a ballpeen hammer...
Or silicone

The gasket thickness controls end clearance and therefore can affect pump performance. The original gasket is not made from a plain sheet of paper. The original is a very thin sheet. I think you will have to search for a proper thickness after checking the clearance needed to allow the rotors to move freely but with minimum clearance.

Jwl,
I think he is talking about the gasket from the pickup to the pump. Not the bottom plate gasket. Thickness is not critical there. JMO. John

I have a couple partial gasket sets. If you want, I can look and you can have it.

My 1960 "Motor Manual" which covers the last of the flatheads (1953), says to use plasti-gage to check the clearance of the rotors to the end plate. The specs they quote are .0015 to .006". Sounds like you could make your own gasket, and check the clearance. If it's within specs, you should be OK.
