8n v8 tractor

This may not be the place to post this but here goes.

I have a 1950 8N and was thinking of installing my 1949 Flathead. I will need a conversion kit and was wondering what recommendations might be out there. I know several are available but have experience with none.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

There are several early Ford tractor sites online that I run into every once and a while. They would most likely know what you are looking for.

Re: 8n v8 tractor

The Funk set up was well thought out. They extended the engine cover up higher so there would be no problem with fuel tank or carburetor clearance and they ran the governor off a belt. They really needed a Sherman overdrive though and most folks just relied on the old 4-speed. I think they used the H series industrial flathead 6 in most of them but they did make a couple of hundred V8 conversions too.

If the crankshaft still aligns with the front axle pivot sleeve, a person could still add an auxiliary hydraulic pump on the front for a front end loader. Might have to put some heavier duty front tires on though. It would be kind of front heavy with all that motor and stuff.

I've seen a lot of photos of them, so there has to be a lot of them around.
