Round speedometer oiling

Have wondered if small hole in speedometer housing is for oil. Thanks in advance of any information!

Re: Round speedometer oiling

The small hole on the back of the case is not a lubrication point.

For the round Stewart Warner speedometer.

Remove the speedometer from the case and on one side there are two brass cups, gently remove each cup and remove the felt wick in each hole. Clean them in a solvent, dry thoroughly, oil them, replace them and reinstall the brass cups. Use a light machine oil.
