It's a MIRACLE! 4 Attachment(s)
Well, not quite a miracle, but now that i have your attention . . ., i wanted to show you how i went about installing a hidden pcv system in my 81A motor. I used an original '37 intake manifold and i wanted each cylinder to share equally in the controlled vacuum leak. I'll let the images show the details. I put about one thousand miles on the truck with the new pcv system, today i changed oil and the motor has not leaked a drop of oil!

Re: It's a MIRACLE! Nice, did the oil stay clean? I have just installed PCV on my 81 engine, I don’t get moisture on the breather on a cold morning anymore.

Re: It's a MIRACLE! Well done. Kinda thinking out of the box, I like it.

Re: It's a MIRACLE! By chance are you an engineer? Nice work, very detailed, imagine not cheap either?

Re: It's a MIRACLE! .
We have many non-engineer types here on the 'Barn capable of doing a project like that, although Tom (hotcoupe) has seemingly done a very nice, professional-looking installation there. Another FordBarner (Heard) and myself recently did a PCV installation on his new 8BA engine. We engineered it such that the intake manifold does NOT require removal to service the PCV valve....clean and simple. Full article with parts list and pictures...click the link below! I will make a copper line for this one day

Re: It's a MIRACLE! What about the oil pan vent [48 back] ? I welded mine closed to prevent the road dirt from entering. Newc

Thanx for the positive comments, i know i mentioned it before, but after a thousand miles the outside of the motor is bone dry, no leaks anywhere!
Newc, good question regarding the pan vent, i used a stainless steel shim (0.015") to block off the vent. I forgot to mention it in my original posting. Tom |
Re: It's a MIRACLE! That's good work. Nice job with the timing pointer as well...very professional.

Re: It's a MIRACLE! Hotcoupe, great looking installation of the PCV. What are you using for a rear crank seal on your 81A engine, did you modify the crank to take a rope seal?
|
Re: It's a MIRACLE! Zeke3, again another detail i omitted, i'm new at starting new threads. Yes, i had the crank ground so that i could use a rope seal on the rear main bearing.
Cadillac512, thanx for the positive comment regarding the timing pointer. I think that the simplest way is usually the best way. Cajunfirehawk, the cost was minimal, probably less than $100.00, but the benefit of not having oil leaks and sludge build up in the motor. . . Priceless! Tom |
