Drag link to tie rod
 

My drag link was rubbing the tie rod because the leaf spring was sagging. With the ride height corrected, won't the rods now hit each other when going over a big bump? Thanks

I should think not, but I'm no expert.
How did you correct the height?

Very sweet car.
Sometimes I find myself torn between which to drive. The A, or the '57.
Guess it depends on my mood.
But since I got the Model A running I find myself making excuses just to drive it.
But I still love my Chevy.

I have had a couple Model A`s in here that the left steering was bent just a little bit, making the drag link and tie rod rub on each other. I just bent the steering a little and that did the trick.

if you put a shortened pittman arm on, not only will it steer more easily, but the tie rod and drag link will be further apart

Shorting the pitman, I understand will improve the steering, but what types, if any, adjustments are needed?
Steering wheel centering?
Tie rod adjustments?
Toe in/out?
Anything?

I have shortened pitman arms on 2 cars, and did not neet to make any adjustments at all. Steering wheel is where it always was, tie rod is not effected by drag link.

I put a shorter pitman arm earlier this fall. Helped make the steering much easier on my arthritic hands. No adjustment needed, however, checking through all the associated components I have replaced the tie rod, tie rod ends, and all the little parts to replace damaged, missing and worn bits. The only original part from the steering box forward is the drag link which has new internals and grease nipples!

I've seen the short pitman, and gave it a passing thought, now that it appears it's all a plus, meaning no adjustments/changes/disadvantages.
It seems a no brainer.
I'll put this on my "todo" list for this winter, doing the steering box and new tie rod innards this winter anyway.

I have a short pitman arm on my '28. There is a drawback but It's not all that bad in my opinion. the 7 tooth steering box will turn a little bit less turning to the left.
