can anyone tell me the difference (if there is a difference) between a f1 and a f100 steering box. thax Lee

F-100 it's not a F-1

The steering box in the pic looks like an F1 with a modified flange welded on.

When is position, the F1 worm is BELOW the pitman shaft, the F100 is ABOVE the pitman shaft.

Here is a shot of the F1 box (with modified flange) in my 32 Sedan. Note the worm is underslung - ie below the pitman shaft. You will also note the stock 32 pitman arm fits the F1 box.

The F100 box has a bigger shaft and the pitman arm has a clamp bolt.

Edit: I see the filler plug location is slightly different. From this I would say the box shown is not F100 for sure, but is similar to my F1 box. From the orientation of the bolts, it may have been made for a 33/34 rather than a 32.
