Spring less Bendix Opinions? I have been contemplating changing to a spring less Bendix. Can anyone relate some experience with using one of these?

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? I've never had a problem with my original, and wouldn't change.

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? I find the pozidrive Bendix less prone to kicking out prematurely.

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? I used an inertia drive for a while and went back to an original set up.
My one never engaged right with the ring gear. It would work but inspection after a few months showed it was chewing up the ring gear and itself -Karl |
Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? Stay with the original and carry a spare spring.

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? I've used a couple of them and never had a problem .The original starter drive can drop bolts . If the original gets oil and a bit of clutch dust on the helix of the drive , it'll just spin and not engage . I've had no such problems with the modern starter drive .

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? Both my A’s have the modern starter drives. Put them in 10 years ago and never had any issues

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? Never had a problem with the modern drive and has been in since 2006.

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? I have had good luck with modern drives on my Tudor. Especially since Snyders and probably others stated selling USA Made. V8s take the same starter as model A's and I have a USA Snyder's modern drive in my avatar roadster.

Re: Spring less Bendix Opinions? I use the modern (tractor style) on all my Model As except my 28 tudor that has an early starter with a smaller shaft.
