- I am not a mechanic and i have never worked for a dealer but part of my interest in old cars comes from when I was a kid.
I grew up on a farm way out in the country in South East Missouri. Old Highway 67 cut right through our farm. this was the 50's and 60's. Old highway 67 became route 00 in the mid 60's when new hwy 67 was opened and the route changed.
Near our Farm my dad's best friend owned a filling station and a junkyard. At one time it was a motel too. Next door was a cafe and across the highway was a Road house where they sold beer and had dances on the weekends. The Road House had a second floor where people could rent rooms for the night. A no tell motel so to speak but if a local rented those rooms you'd hear about it for years afterward.
The cafe was a local gathering spot where people came for all reasons. Then lady who owned it always liked me and I was always welcome there.
