- I was 6 when my uncle purchased a 1946 Merc 2 door sedan. I remember sitting on the fender and petting the hood ornament. See picture of me on roller skates!
well to start with ah, bought my first Mercury a 1939 Convertable...at the age of 12 for $10; never did get it running, did replace the rear spring!
Next came a 46 Ford Sportsman at age 15 paid $50 for it. Rebuilt the engine, didn't check the oil on a 500 mile trip and blew the engine. sold it for $50!
Followed by a 47 Ford Coupe for a short period.
in college I lived in my 47 Merc Woodie, paid $100 for it, burned through several flatheads that I would by for $10. I owned it for five years....
40+ years later I acquired a 46 Merc Coupe...owned it for 14 years and love the hell out of it.
