Default Has anyone used the HOT ROD WORKS open driveline conversion kit?

I am thinking of converting my stock 40 Ford torque tube driveline to an open driveline. Has anyone used the HRW kits and how did it turn out? Did you use a torque arm and a panhard bar?
Thanks, JIM

I've hardly ever posted here but I think now is a pretty good time to chime in.... Hot Rod Works does top notch work and provide an excellent service. I've not used one of their open drive kits....yet....but I'm about to send the rear end from my '36 up to them for an overhaul including a ring and pinion change from 10 spline to 6 spline. I now have a Flato open drive conversion in that rear end and I can't wait to toss it in the trash. I've seen the HRW piece and held in my hands and I have complete confidence in it..
Ken and Nick just finished building a vintage quick change rear axle assembly for me and I'm ecstatic with the work they did.

As far as adding a torque....yes, you need one. If all you do is putt around you can probably get by without one, but you really should have something to replace the structure and strength provided by the torque tube HRW also sells a torque arm kit but you can make your own from an old rear radius rod.
I did not install a pan hard bar on my '36....

Yes, converting to late axles is a positive way to go, especially for the later brakes.

Lots of stuff on the HAMB about HRW pieces and converting your '40 to open drive. I'm using '35 bells, '37-'41 axles and the center from a '46 truck and it's going in a '28 Tudor. Not to get too hot rod for the barn, but I'll find some links.

Just a few I have bookmarked.

I have one in my 32, Jim. It is of excellent quality and fits perfectly.
Wish all aftermarket stuff was that good
