Default Spoon Gas Pedal disassembly??

Can the pin be removed to take apart a spoon gas pedal? I gave one a couple of tries (from both ends) with a pin punch and it doesn't seem to want to budge. Maybe a little bit of heat? Thanks!!

pete, i`ve taken apart several spoon pedals. some of them come apart with a few vigorous thumps with a pin punch and hammer. and i`ve had a few that i had to use heat and get VERY aggressive with.

A little heat works good. A lot works better. The pin will come out. Here are a couple of pictures of my build. Had to shorten the shaft to fit the Model A firewall. The aluminum template is for drilling the hole in the firewall for the throttle arm. The arm had to be heated and re-shaped to work properly.

And if you need extra material or arms, I believe all the many variants of '32-48 gas pedal cross shafts use the same diameter stock and can be grafted right into an early spoon.

Thanks. Think I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

PS: Paul- You didn't try to get the "twisty" shaft outside the fire wall?

Not enough room. The engine's so close to the firewall, I can't even run the mechanical fuel pump.
