Model A Roadsters
I have some general question about the roadsters:
. Did all of them just come with the rumble seat? . If so, can they be easily converted to a trunk? . Are the doors the same width as the coupes and do they offer the same amount of leg room? . If so, does the top consume the area where the package tray would be on the coupe? Thanks-a-lot... as always! Saltman |

Re: Model A Roadsters
Most standard roadsters came with trunks, not rumble seats. I believe you could order a standard roadster with a rumble sat, but I don't think many buyers did as they aren't very practical. Converting a rumble seat to a trunk is not a real hard job, but time consuming and requires some body work (particularly filling the rumble handle hole on the lid and replacing the inner panel below the lid). I believe 30 and 31 deluxe roadsters did come standard with rumble seats. The doors are NOT even close between a roadster and a coupe. There are differences between 28/29 roadsters and 30/31 standard roadsters. I have heard 30/31 roadsters have a little more room, but I have never sat in one. No standard roadster or phaeton had much leg room, but deluxe phaetons did have a little more.

The 30-31 deluxe roadster, you need to be a pretty good contortionist to get in and out with the top up.

Re: Model A Roadsters
The 30/31 roadster had a little more leg room and the cowl area of the floor was wider than the 28/29. I found the 30 roadster I had was more comfortable driving than the 29 I had, door opening foot clearance was tight on both.

Re: Model A Roadsters
My standard '30 Roadster came from the dealer with a rumble seat and from all the paper work my grandfather had, it was not special ordered that way.

Contrary to what Rusty says I believe rumble seats are very practical ! I can put groceries and a mother in law in my rumble seat. You can't put a mother in law in your trunk without a divorce ! Wayne
