Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
I "rebuilt" the original on my '38 with a couple of parts I purchased online. I had a tip from someone on here during the process, but it was pretty easy really. Here's the thread.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
If you have the glass bowl filter pump and it DOES NOT have "AC" on the top it is not rebuildable. The valves are pressed in place and of a special size.
If you need another pump I would suggest Charlie Schwindler in NY he uses a special diaphragm material. |

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
Not necessoryly so,you have to split the pump in 1/2 and look see in the top 1/2 if theres a little bracket w/2 small screws in it which holds the valves in. Those can be rebuilt.I have the parts to rebuild these. The new diaphragm must be transferred to the old stem.I have a way of doing this or I sell the new diaph. with the stem already attached. ken ct.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
I will echo earlier sentiments, if you are not comfortable with rebuilding it yourself, send it to Charlie NY, you'll be glad you did.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
[QUOTE=HOTROD_WILLIE;817070]Are you talking about Ken the one that had those 81 Carbs? I did not know he did fuel pumps. Well, the five I got from him says he doesn't as three of them didn't work. The fuel pump needs to look right. They are going on a show car. Then stay away from "Rattle can - I don't test 'em" CT.

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
[QUOTE=Kube;817136]Thanks for heads up. I have been burnt in the past. Buying Carbs. or dist. that were sand blasted and painted w/ rattle cans. Then you try to call the guy up. They hang the phone up on you and call you names. I don't know how they stay in business. I glad we have Fordbarn and the Hamb so we find the right people to buy from and do business with. Peace

Re: Fuel Pump Rebuilt
ITS ALL ABOUT PUTTING THEM ON A WORKING ,RUNNING ENGINE,,, AND TRYING THEM OUT,, BEFOR !! ! YOU SEND THEM BACK TOO THE CUSTOMER ! I too fell victim to A "mr rattlecan", for my 295 dollar re-built carb that leaked , only to send it to Charlie for a 168 dollar re-rebuild . no problems now. Even got a follow up phone call,, to make sure. He,s the best. I like to here about the good guys and the not so good guys. Thats what this place is all about. Sharing info... ,good or bad... and tryin to help each other out WITH the decision. just my 2 cents mp
