Default lincoln y block questions

A friend just found a 1956 lincoln y block with his 4 speed auto box . Is it a good engine and are the parts available ? i don't see many cars with this bock and what is this 4 speed trans ?

if the trans is a 4 speed stick its probably out of a truck, a big heavy engine and not much horse power for the size, not a popular engine, parts are available but expensive and hard to get, 368 cubic inch, 285 h/p,there were 4 different sized engine used over the years 1953 to 1962

if its a 4 speed auto,it has to be the hyrdamatic but it was used last in 54.
