Now that is REALLY cool to me. Paragon gear is/was in Taunton Massachusetts, near where my dad grew up. I'd love to have first dibs if you only want the engine part.

"C69A"? Isn't that a Canadian engine?

Yep, and many of those are ww2 surplus. Have one in my '48 114X. 3 3/16 relieved from factory. Canadian intake with the provision for a tall oil fill. Pull the heads. The extra oil port was used for an oil cooler in Canadian tracked vehicles [carriers]. Some ww2 Military fellows would like to have that eng. Correct eng for my avatar. Newc

Re: Interesting Flathead Marine Engine
Likely. It was listed for sale in Brampton, ON Canada IIRC. Can’t get back into FB marketplace for some strange reason, otherwise I would post the link.

Re: Interesting Flathead Marine Engine
It has the Canadian third oil port introduced in WW2 that some people use for "95%" oil filter conversion.
I too would be concerned about water jacket corrosion. |

Re: Interesting Flathead Marine Engine
If the engine was used in a salt water application it might be junk. Salt water, cast iron and heat don't play nice together. You won't find an engine rebuilder on both the north and south shore of Long Island that will rebuild a salt water cooled engine. A friend had a boat with a 1980's Ford V-8 that needed a rebuild and could not find any shop to rebuild it. All told him to replace the motor.

Re: Interesting Flathead Marine Engine
Was able to get back into FB. Link is below. I doubt it was used on salt water, but most likely the Great Lakes or on smaller lakes in Ontario.

Re: Interesting Flathead Marine Engine
$800 Canadian comes out to about $585 USD which isn’t outrageous given it come with a marine transmission, etc. I would think it has only seen fresh water given it’s location.

Re: Interesting Flathead Marine Engine
And those aren't headers, they are water cooled mainfolds, jacketed so after the cooling water is pumped through the block it cools the exhaust on it's way to the transom. I bet a V8 piped like that would sound great.
