Rear taillight bracket 28 sedan

My rear tailight on my 28 Leatherback sedan is bolted right to the frame, not the fender . Is this correct? How is this attached? There are no nuts accessable behind the rear seat. I want to add a right taillight but am confused how or where to attach it.

The taillight bracket is fastened to the rear body crossmember, not the frame. There should be 3 D-nuts on the left side of the rear crossmember that accepts the fine threaded bolts that secures the forged taillight bracket. I can look and see if I have a picture of the area where the bracket is attached.

Rusty's info is good for some sedans but I think he must have missed that the one in question is a Leatherback. The 60A and 60B sedans both have a valance across the back covering the wood subframe and attached to the body and fenders. There's an "L" shaped bracket mounted on the wooden subframe immediately behind the valance and the taillight bracket bolts went thru the valance and attached to the upright part of the "L" bracket. Don't recall for sure but seem to recall that the visible brackets are different than those used on other models. The spare tire mount also used a special bracket between the wooden subframe and the valance.

Randy hit the nail on the head with a picture. I have no experience with Briggs and Murray fordoor sedans. Now I know, better late than never.

On my’28 roadster I made a bracket of L shaped aluminum for the right side taillight, sandwiched between the frame and the bumper supports.

The vendors sell a right hand bracket, but you need to provide the holes and hardware. I used 3 riv-nuts with success. It is real tight and not a lot of room for error when drilling and clearances. Measure 4 or 5 times and drill once.

Hold the bracket where it should be with these in the holes - give it a smack and presto you know where to drill. These are for wood and will last for awhile. There are also threaded one for holes with threads and single long ones - to use those you'd punch and drill the first hole then bolt it one and do the second hole once it was bolted on again do the third hole.
