It’s all good. I ended up finding a newly reconditioned one (non remote(done by Skip and posted to Australia). So it’s all original and looking fine. Best part? I hit that starter button now and the engine roars into life almost immediately. What a difference! Really really pleased at the great advice given on this forum. Such nice people.

Thanks for the update. Put a check mark in the 'win' column. It's very satisfying getting these old cars to run right with original type parts. My experience is also "hit that starter button now and the engine roars into life almost immediately." I'm a big fan of the helmet distributor and original (Skip rebuilt) coils. It's 90 year-old technology but if you take the time to understand it, it works quite well.
