Can you Identify this Ford
Yes, I know that is a 1951 Studebaker Commander, not a Ford. It was the family car; beautiful, but would not pull the hat off of your head. Nonetheless, if you could get parts for that car like you can for early V8s, I would own one.
To the lower left is my dog Widget. Just above Widget, you will see the left front fender of a Ford. Using that tri-frame contraption, I pulled engines for friends, including both 1937 and 1938 model years. Miraculously, no one was injured. I believe the fender in question is from a 1938, the main clue being the bumper guard leaning slightly forward at the top. Can anyone make a more positive determination from such slight evidence? |

Re: Can you Identify this Ford
I'm thinking 1937...
But it looks more like a 1935 or a 1936 bumper guard...

Re: Can you Identify this Ford
Pretty slim evidence, but I’m gonna say ‘38

Re: Can you Identify this Ford
‘37 & ‘38 bumper guards may appear identical, but are not interchangeable due to the contour of the bumper, which was reversed upside down for ‘38. As I said in my opinion, very thin evidence, but look at the bumper, comparing it to that of the ‘37 in a later picture, the shadow line being low on the ‘37, and high on the ‘38.

Re: Can you Identify this Ford
I'd say 38 by the way the fender crowns.

'38 it is. And that bumper contour difference might explain this: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...ord-nc-2690016 |

Re: Can you Identify this Ford
Definitely not a 37 since it lacks the peak on the fender. That leaves 38 standard and deluxe, or 39 standard as options.
I agree with the consensus above, 38. |
