Turning steering wheel 180deg to reduce play
Hi Guys,
Happy New Year to you all!! I have a lot of play in my 2 tooth box which is past being able to be adjusted out. So I plan to rebuild the steering box over winter. Someone told me the other day they pulled out their sector shaft and turned their steering wheel 180 then put the sector shaft back in. This supposedly has the shaft running on a less worn area, taking some play out of the wheel.. It sounds easy enough.. Has anyone done this?? Any thoughts?? I'm pretty sure I have too much play for this to reduce all my play, but might be a great temporary fix until my winter rebuild?? |

This trick only works with the 7 tooth box ,it will not work with the 2 tooth .
