Default Snyder's Item

Has anyone used this molding that Snyder's sells? If so, what is your opinion of how easy it is to fit? I'd like to use it on a 1929 Tudor, front AND rear.....

Thanks!

Model A Steel Top Molding

The bottom piece nails down and holds the top material in place, and the top snaps over the lower piece to hide the nails. 6' long piece that can be used on front or rear. Correct dome on upper piece! Used on: 28-9 Coupe, 28-9 Spec. Coupe, 28-31 Tudor, 30-1 Pickup, 28-9 Taxi, and 30-1 Deluxe Delivery. Item Number A-47301-S

I have not used this particular part, but always have gotten quality stuff from Snyder's.

Ruxstel - Me too, always quality. It's MY abilities in question this time. Bending the item to fit sounds difficult... And after bending to fit, it's 'top' still snaps on? Hmm....

I think the guys that have successfully used it made a wood form to bend the curves in the steel. If I remember, they snapped the two parts together and bend them at the same time.

I had Snyder's make up rain gutters for my deluxe delivery project. Guy in Fresno, CA has the car now and sent me pictures with the top installed and all the pieces look really nice. I made a paper pattern and mailed it to them and they did the bending. I'm sure that some fitting was required but the hard part was done. Didn't cost much more than the tudor gutters, as I recall. The over the front and back pieces came pretty much formed if my memory is correct. Good folks to deal with.

I used this on two different 31 closed cab pickups. It is very hard to get it bent to fit the ends. I have heard that putting wax paper between the top and bottom helps in getting them bent, but I did not try that. I ended up putting a screw in both ends to make it lay down right. I used similar top molding for the back where compound bends are not needed and it fit nicely and easy.
