Re: Burtz de burring how to

Re: Burtz de burring how to

From the Burtz guide:

"Deburring can be done with a Dremel tool, a small mill file, a set of needle files, a rotary wire wheel brush, and 320-grit wet-or-dry sandpaper."

Re: drilling on powder coated surface

I powder coated a lot of stuff years ago for a land cruiser restoration. Would I use on a Model A restoration? Probably not but I have no general opposition to it's use. A friend is adding a large...

Re: What is the best rust remover soak?

I used various homebrew recipes before finding EvapoRust. Used it for a while but have now switched to Rust911. $80/gal but still way cheaper than ER given 15:1 dilution. For me it works...

Re: Stripped Model A engine block weight = 95 lbs

1000 lb crane scale but it's a quality unit. Weighed the first one again on a shipping scale used for UPS and again 95 lbs. I can see how casting variations could easily cause a couple pounds...

Stripped Model A engine block weight = 95 lbs

I've got two stripped blocks I want to store on a shelf but was concerned about weight. Search here and google turned up all kinds of weights for various combinations of block/head/crank/etc and lots...

Re: Powder Coating Guns?

My understanding is the professional grade PC equipment has less of a problem with Faraday effect but I've personally never used any. The higher cost Eastwood system probably is better but true...

Re: Powder Coating Guns?

Like any coating, good prep is the key. There needs to be a good grippy surface to apply the powder to. Most of my stuff was smaller and blasted w/ aluminum oxide in blast cabinet. Everything I did...

Re: Powder Coating Guns?

I bought an earlier version of the Eastwood gun 15 or so years ago. Worked fine, coated a bunch of stuff. You do have to cure at 400F+ depending on powder so part has to be able to take the heat and...

WTB - Float-a-Motor kit

Looking for a kit to build a test stand. I know I can buy new but figured if someone had one they weren't going to use it could benefit us both.

Re: What are these inside "NOS" cluster gear?

The cluster is nice but a couple gears have wear on them so it's not new as it was described. I've never seen any reference to pressed in sleeves for Model A nor had a friend who works on everything...

What are these inside "NOS" cluster gear?

Picked up what was supposed to be a NOS cluster gear but it's definitely not new and had these odd sleeves in the bore that had to be pressed out. I don't have that much history w/ Model As but all...

Re: Correct jack for '31 slant window cabriolet?

I wasn't really trying to find one with this post - just wondering if any one of the three different C-series jacks would be specifically correct for my late '31 cabriolet? Guessing not though since...

Correct jack for '31 slant window cabriolet?

I've been picking up Model A/other old jacks at swap meets/etc but have yet to run across any of the C-series jacks. C1, C2 and C3 jacks are noted as continuing through end of production. Assume that...

Re: Evapo-Rust

Yep, works great but pricey for what it is and wears out fast (at least for me). I've still got several gallons but have pretty much switched to Rust 911, especially when I need quantity. Gallon is...

Re: Thoughts on new camshaft?

That makes sense and gets to my basic mental block with the idea of regrinding a cam to "stock."

I've ordered a Burtz cam so my OCD can take a break!

How common is a broken main bearing bolt?

I was recently given a Model A engine and have started tearing it down. It was obvious externally that one of the front main bearing cap bolts was broken and sticking up. Bolt head was in the oil...
